Volunteers are central to the work of Sligo Social Services. Volunteers work alongside professional staff to deliver vital services to those in need.
Some volunteers have newly come to Sligo Social Services while some have been involved in various services for almost all of the life of the organisation.
There are almost 300 volunteers at present in the organisation. They have and continue to be involved in many specific aspects of the organisation including the following:
Volunteers work in various roles, for example as night shelter workers, shop workers, drivers, fundraisers, delivering meals and visitors to people who use our services.
The hours and frequency volunteers work depend on the service they are involved in and their availability.
There are many exciting and rewarding ways in which you can become involved in this crucial work. All volunteers receive the support and guidance of our staff and management.
