Solace Café to open in Sligo
Sligo Social Services is delighted to announce the opening of The Solace Café from Thursday October 17th, 2024. The Solace Café is a free out of hours friendly and supportive community space open to anyone from the Sligo/Leitrim area requiring mental health support in a crisis.
Operating out of Sligo Social Services, Retreat House, The Lungy Sligo F91RVOD the Solace Café will be available Thursday to Sunday 5-10.30pm each week.
What is Solace Café?
Solace Café is a FREE out-of-hours, non-clinical mental health service.
This service is for anyone over the age of 18 experiencing a crisis, supporting someone in crisis or experiencing a mental health difficulty that is causing emotional overwhelm or a feeling of being unable to cope.
Solace Café is a welcoming spot where you can gather your thoughts, draw on your strengths, and connect with others who’ve been through similar experiences.
It is a comfortable, friendly, and safe environment. It is a unique space for community members seeking support during tough times. It is a comfortable, friendly, and safe environment.
Staff are on hand to provide direct assistance and signposting but if you don’t feel like talking, that is okay too… we will give you the space to sit and have some tea.
If there is an immediate risk of harm, please attend your local A&E or call 999/112 for assistance.
How do I book into Solace Café?
This is an appointment-only service. We accept self-referrals and referrals from healthcare practitioners, NGO’s and community partner agencies.

The Solace Café is delivered by Sligo Social Services in partnership with the HSE. This café forms part of a wider national initiative to develop and expand hours of mental health support in line with the Sharing the Vision: A Mental Health Policy for Everyone, and the National Model of Care for Crisis Resolution Services.
